Why Are You Waiting Until The Exit To Interview?

We’ve all heard of exit interviews.

The ones conducted when an employee leaves the company to help the company and its leaders better understand not only why the individual is leaving the company, but to hopefully get a better insight into where the company might have a chance to improve so as to help retain other employees.

Questions can cover things like that individual’s opinion of the value of their role in the company or their view on whether or not they felt valued as an individual. It could also cover questions about company culture and the reputation of the company’s leadership.

But why are we waiting until someone has already made a decision to leave our organization to better understand these things?

Our tip for the week?

Look at your company’s exit interview questions and ask yourself: Could your employee retention rate improve if you took the time to ask these questions of your employees NOW?
